Leibinger presents top innovation
Leibinger, the worldwide innovation leader for coding and marking systems, presented the new and first intelligent Coding & Marking System IQJET at the interpack trade fair in Düsseldorf on May 3rd. The IQJET is suitable for direct marking of products and packaging and can be used in both the consumer goods and food (FMCG) sectors as well as in the industrial sector.
It promises “plug & print” performance and thus availability at all times with consistently high print quality without cleaning effort. To ensure maximum peace of mind, the IQJET is designed to require no maintenance for a full five years. Overall, it comes with up to 30% lower operating costs and scores demonstrably in the area of sustainability.
“With the IQJET, we will be able to give our customers even more security in the future that everything will work around the clock when marking their products. This already starts with the start of production, because with the IQJET this is always done smoothly and without delay. Simply plug it in and start printing reliably – Plug & Print, as we say. The IQJET is not just a CIJ printer, but stands for the good feeling of no longer having to worry about labelling products,” explains Christina Leibinger, CEO of Leibinger.
Simple integration
The manufacturer talks about four innovative assistance systems in the new IQJET. One is the SMART.OS operating system with its large 10-inch touch display. Numerous interfaces, including OPC UA and an integrated PLC, enable easy integration into the production line. Operation is intuitive and can be done by anyone without prior knowledge.
High availability
The IQPRINT printing technology is responsible for stable printing performance with consistently good print quality. When not in use, the complete ink circuit, including the print nozzle, is hermetically sealed and the ink continues to circulate. The productive time is significantly increased by IQPRINT, as regular maintenance and printhead cleaning routines are sustainably avoided.
Lowest consumption
The SMART.EFFICIENCY assistance system automatically ensures that the IQJET’s operating costs are reduced to a minimum and that resources and thus the environment are conserved. The IQJET has the lowest consumption on the market, i.e. 2.7 cc/h with MEK inks. The high reliability of the IQJET avoids unnecessary waste and makeready waste. The ink cartridges are completely emptied and do not have to be disposed of separately, as is the case with conventional CIJ printers.
Five years without maintenance
Thanks to the intelligent SMART.CARE function, maintenance is virtually eliminated. The outstanding quality and reliability of the IQJET is based on the use of durable components, most of which are manufactured in the company’s own factory in Germany and are subject to strict quality controls. The unique design of the system does not require a continuously running feed pump, which minimises wear. Maintenance is therefore usually only required after five years.
“Leibinger is a family business and deliberately focuses on Made in Germany. Thanks to our specialisation and the greatest possible vertical range of manufacture, we can offer our customers added value in the form of higher productivity and reliability of our systems. The IQJET combines all our competencies with the aim of offering our customers a worry-free, cost-efficient and long-term solution,” concludes Leibinger.
FMCG/food savings example
The manufacturer demonstrates the low operating costs using the example of the labelling of so-called Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), meaning, for example, food packaging or containers for cosmetics and hygiene products. A producer in the FMCG sector with 4,000 production hours per year and 400 prints per minute with 20 characters/print each saves almost 9,000 in pure operating costs after five years compared to conventional CIJ printers. In addition, there are significant savings potentials due to reduced productivity losses. An operating cost calculator on Leibinger’s website shows the individual savings possibilities.
