Team Bingen; a community that produces energy and recycles heat

Friday 22. July 2022 - The year 2022 is a milestone for MCC in Bingen. The wine and spirits factory has recently moved to a new location, and even better, to a brand new and modern building. A common focus of the new location is sustainability.

From renewable energy to recycling, numerous initiatives have been developed to serve both our factory and the region around Bingen.
A community with a future
Protecting our environment is just one part of our sustainability policy, which is based on three pillars. We strive to do everything in our power not only to protect the environment, but also to contribute to it by incorporating both sustainable alternatives and initiatives.
We excel in solar energy
We get 40% of our electricity for the facility from solar energy, as the necessary panels have been installed on our entire roof area. Bingen may not be Ibiza or Mexico, but it still captures and stores every single ray of the beautiful Bingen sun.
Energy efficiency
It’s not just our employees who are warm and energetic. Our presses also generate a lot of heat, for example in the UV illumination of the printing presses. This heat is captured and used to regulate the internal temperature, not only for heat but also for the building’s air conditioning.
DGNB: Energy-efficient building certificate
The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) has developed its own certification system that makes sustainable development measurable and comparable in practice. Our new building has already been nominated for the DGNB Gold Standard and the audit is currently underway.
Other initiatives at our new MCC site in Bingen include e-mobility charging stations in our car park, energy-saving LED lighting and ongoing testing of sustainable and greener substrates. Our goal: to further reduce our ecological footprint.
