Henkel donates around 50,000 litres of disinfectant

Wednesday 08. April 2020 - As part of its global solidarity program in the fight against the corona crisis, Henkel has announced that it will make production capacities available at short notice for the manufacture of disinfectants. Within just one week, a production plant at the Düsseldorf site was converted and the first 25,000 liters of hand disinfectants were produced. Henkel donated them to surrounding hospitals and public institutions. Next week, production will continue and about the same amount of disinfectant will be produced again.

“We want to make our contribution to the fight against the corona pandemic with a comprehensive solidarity program. We are therefore pleased that our team at the headquarters in Düsseldorf was able to provide the production capacity here at short notice to manufacture disinfectants for medical use,” says Carsten Knobel, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel.
With this week’s production alone, Henkel expects to be able to cover the needs of the major Düsseldorf hospitals and public institutions for the coming weeks. In addition, inquiries from the vicinity of the 15 German sites were also taken into account. Delivery and distribution will be carried out in close coordination with the local health authorities.
“In the fight against the pandemic, fast and unbureaucratic help is needed. We at Henkel also want to make a contribution,” says Dr. Daniel Kleine, Site Manager Düsseldorf and President Henkel Germany, who is responsible for the project together with Dr. Achim Hübener, Regional Head of Operations & Supply Chain Europe. “Thanks to the dedicated efforts of a cross-divisional team – both on site and in the home office – it was possible to successfully convert production in just five days.”
The commitment is part of a comprehensive solidarity program to support employees, customers and affected communities affected by the global COVID 19 pandemic. The aid programme includes a €2 million donation to the WHO and UN Foundation’s COVID-19 funds and other organizations, and a donation of 5 million personal and household hygiene products.
