Donation to the WHO and United Nations Fund and other organizations: Henkel is donating two million euros to various relief funds and organizations to help fight the pandemic. The Fritz Henkel Foundation will donate one million euros directly to the Solidarity Fund of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Foundation for the United Nations (UN). This donation will be used to provide protective equipment for healthcare workers, to equip diagnostic laboratories, to improve data collection and analysis, to set up and maintain intensive care units, and to accelerate research and development of potential vaccines and therapies. With a further donation of one million euros, the Fritz Henkel Foundation will directly support various organizations and partners around the world and encourage the voluntary personal commitment of employees in the fight against the crisis.
Donation of body and household hygiene products: Henkel will also donate five million body and household hygiene products worldwide. The donation includes hand disinfectants, soap and protective equipment, as well as detergents, disinfectants and other household cleaners. Henkel’s Corporate Citizenship Team will distribute these donations in close cooperation with aid organizations and local authorities and partners around the world.
Provision of production capacities for manufacturing disinfectants: Henkel also plans to manufacture disinfectants at selected sites. The products are intended to help public institutions and professional groups in the fight against the coronavirus.
Improved payment terms for selected business partners: Henkel will also consider offering small and medium-sized hair salons improved payment terms to support them in this currently challenging situation.
Ongoing crisis management and security measures for employees: National, regional and global crisis management teams have been in place at Henkel since the outbreak of the crisis. The most important goal of crisis management is to do everything possible to ensure the safety of employees, customers and business partners and to maintain operations under the challenging circumstances.
“We at Henkel are determined to help in the face of this unprecedented challenge. In line with our values, we want to make a contribution through our comprehensive global solidarity program,” said Carsten Knobel, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel. “We stand together in our fight against the pandemic. We want to protect our employees and their jobs, support our customers and help the communities in which we operate”.
“I would also like to thank our global and local crisis teams that have been in place since the beginning of the spread of the coronavirus. We have taken additional measures to reduce the risk of infection for those employees who continue to work at the sites to maintain operations. For example, strict protocols in the event of suspected infections, increased hygiene measures, separation of shift work, and a reduced number of on-site employees by allowing them to work in their home offices wherever possible.
