Late Stage Customization for cartons

Wednesday 28. August 2019 - Supply and demand can be brought together almost in real time: For brand owners and FMCG producers, this is the ultimate challenge - and Late Stage Customization is a crucial answer. It enables fast responsiveness and high agility in packaging design, occasional and seasonal marketing campaigns, and campaigns that are tailored to specific target groups or even completely personalized.

At Fachpack 2019, Atlantic Zeiser will for the first time present a solution that individualizes not only flat, but also erected and filled folding cartons with brilliant digital color printing up to batch size 1 (Hall 3, Booth 3-113, Coesia joint booth with Atlantic Zeiser, Flexlink and Hapa). The DIGILINE Versa Inline can be integrated into the process chain wherever the benefit is greatest. This allows brand owners and packaging service providers to quickly take advantage of digital variable data printing without having to completely redesign existing production lines. In this way, for example, the number of carton packs to be procured and stored and the associated storage and retrieval processes can be significantly reduced. Late Stage Customization will thus also become a means of making the supply chain more flexible and efficient. “It is no longer a question of whether Late Stage Customization will prevail, but only how quickly it will become standard and who will be among the winners,” says Barbara Schulz, head of Digital Printing Solutions at Coesia. These include Atlantic Zeiser, Hapa and ink specialist Tritron. “The decisive key to success will therefore be to start small, gain experience quickly and then quickly scale the corresponding production possibilities. The DIGILINE Versa Inline is therefore designed to produce even the smallest batch sizes cost-efficiently. The range of applications extends from printing unique recognition features to special promotion codes to different language or country versions. Because the system can reproduce even colored details with pin-sharp resolution of up to 600 dpi on a wide range of surface materials, it is ideally equipped to ensure consistent brand presence even in late stage customization.
Efficient handling
The new DIGILINE Versa Inline is also designed for efficiency in handling. The integrated four-colour high-performance OMEGA Pro printer uses innovative embedded RIP technology. It enables inline ribbing of the variable data components. This saves an enormous amount of time during data preparation, as no unnecessarily large amounts of data have to be transferred through completely pre-ripped documents. The automated cleaning of the ink jet nozzles ensures constant perfect print quality and best availability. The manual cleaning of the print heads is thus largely eliminated, so that the operator can already devote himself to other activities during this process. A non-contact cleaning process ensures minimized consumption of UV ink while at the same time improving printhead availability.
The basic module of the DIGILINE Versa Inline includes, in addition to the printer, an extremely smooth vacuum-based transport frame and an electronic shaft for connection to an existing packaging line. Depending on customer requirements and
-The optional equipment required is an alignment line, workpiece carrier, verification camera, ejection system and powerful production software.
