Océ ProStream 1000 continuous feed inkjet press helps Canon customers accelerate delivery of high value applications
Tuesday 12. February 2019 - Canon Europe is enhancing customers capability to deliver high-value, variable content applications, such as premium direct mail and marketing collateral, personalised catalogues, brochures and books, with the Océ ProStream 1000 continuous feed inkjet press.
Since the product was launched in 2017, customers have embraced the Océ ProStream 1000s superior inkjet productivity and offset-like print quality, with seven customer placements in EMEA. The press is meeting these progressive print service providersdemands for higher quality and improved media choice for sustained high-volume digital production.
The Océ ProStreams native 1,200 dpi Océ DigiDot piezoelectric drop-on-demand print head technology enables optimal offset-like print quality. The press uses the Océ ColorGrip solution, an inline paper conditioning step which supports customers with printing on a broad range of media including standard offset coated and uncoated papers. This makes it possible to integrate ProStream within a hybrid digital/offset production environment for maximum flexibility.
Dynamic one-to-one marketing as a means of differentiation
Eversfrank Group, a leading German provider of print, media and marketing services, has successfully expanded its digital print on demand operation with investments in two Océ ProStream 1000 presses. This has enabled the company to make its printed products more efficient by delivering the premium print quality expected by clients, matched with high production volumes and sophisticated variable data capability.
Since the installation of the Océ ProStream printers, the company has enhanced its offering of individualised programmatic direct mail and catalogue covers, delivering a measurable uplift in response rates for its brand customers. With the high productivity of the Océ ProStream 1000 and supporting digital workflow, Eversfrank Group can now meet turnaround times as short as 24 hours, enabling customers to send highly effective personalised direct mail in the same timeframe it would take them to trigger an e-shot.
Frank Ehrhorn, Sales Director, Eversfrank Group comments, “By enhancing our digital production capabilities with the Canon Océ ProStream 1000, our customers can now benefit from new, innovative advertising opportunities using high speed digital printing at offset quality. As the first company in Germany to implement this ultra-modern inkjet technology, were setting new standards in direct marketing and in the individualisation of catalogue covers, making full use of our clients customer data.”
“Through our technology investments with partners such as Canon, we can now link online and offline technologies seamlessly so that segmentation to each single target individual is possible, even when were talking about a data set of 100,000 contacts. For our clients, that capability is compelling; more relevance equals more response, which equals more turnover. The Océ ProStream 1000, backed by Canons expertise in integrating digital workflows for variable data, has enabled us to begin a new chapter in the services we offer and to open up new possibilities for our customers on a large industrial scale.”
From book order to delivery within 48 hours
Ipskamp Printing in Enschede, The Netherlands, a specialist in printing and binding books, brochures and manuals, has also invested in the Océ ProStream 1000, enabling the company to significantly reduce lead times and increase productivity without affecting quality. With the Océ ProStream 1000, supported by highly automated online ordering systems, Ipskamp Printing can produce and deliver tailor-made books and manuals in just 48 hours.
“This state-of-the-art production printer is in line with our customers’ need for higher quality and wider paper selection. This expansion enables us to print at unprecedented speeds in 1,200 dpi resolution on coated offset paper”, says Operational Director, Folkert Wedzinga.
Hybrid digital/offset production increases market penetration
Producing in excess of 150 million magazines and books a year, Grafica Veneta in Padua, Italy, wanted to reduce printing times and warehousing costs and offer competitive prices without compromising offset quality. Grafica Veneta installed the Océ ProStream 1000 in 2017, impressed by its remarkable 80 metre per minute production speed and high offset-like quality in full colour on matte and glossy paper. Grafica Venetas ProStream is driven by Océ PRISMAproduction, which is linked into the companys management information system to achieve close workflow integration, from the digital file input through to the printed book, with the highest degree of automation.
“Until now, we were not convinced by the print quality offered by other digital technologies on the market. We are now happy that we can offer a premium product to our customers that can maintain their standards with no compromise” says Managing Director, Mauro Fontanari.
Peter Wolff, Vice President PPP EMEA Commercial Printing, comments: “When we introduced the Océ ProStream 1000 into the market, we were confident that it could enable customers to successfully migrate high-value work from offset to inkjet and exploit the full creative potential of variable data printing within multi-channel promotional campaigns. Its clear from the positive customer feedback that the Océ ProStream is meeting both their expectations and ours, delivering high-value personalised applications at exceptional quality with extremely high productivity.”
Visitors attending Hunkeler Innovationdays 2019 in Lucerne, Switzerland (25-28th February 2019) will be able to see new enhancements to the Océ ProStream that help to increase growth opportunities for their customers. The press will be demonstrated live producing applications such as posters and magazines, while other applications including mass-customised mailers will also be on display.
