Agfa Graphics Highlights 150 Years of Innovation at SGIA Booth
Tuesday 17. October 2017 - In 1867, when Agfa was founded, telephones, electric light bulbs and automobiles did not yet exist. Agfa started out as a manufacturer of color dyes and shortly became a pioneer in color photography. Today, Agfa Graphics is a leading solutions provider of equipment, consumables, software, and services to the printing industry.
Developments in color dyes and photographic chemistries built the foundation for the innovation and technological leadership that Agfa Graphics is known for today. From October 10-12, 2017, Agfa will showcase the latest technologies and production expertise at SGIA taking place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA.
Agfa Graphics’ SGIA booth tells a story of graphic communication originality that showcases UV inkjet output in visually attractive yet realistic settings. Visitors to SGIA will be drawn to the dichotomy of past and present while experiencing the unlimited creativity possible with today’s UV inkjet systems.
Nestled among the four inkjet engines (Jeti Tauro H2500 LED, Jeti Mira 2732 HS LED, the flatbed Anapurna FB2540i LED and the hybrid Anapurna H3200i LED), workflow software (Asanti) stations are two application cubes designed to be educational and entertaining. The 150 Year of Innovation cube illustrates the history and proficiency that Agfa has delivered to the printing industry for more than a century. The Agfa Ink Tattoo Parlor helps visitors realize the impact of intricate, colorful, eye-popping UV inkjet displayed in our current day tattoo culture.
“These creative applications help attendees comprehend what is possible while inspiring them to unleash their imagination,” states Deborah Hutcheson, Director of Marketing, Agfa Graphics North America. “We thought it would be fun to celebrate our anniversary by showcasing the expertise and innovation that is the result of our rich history.”
Experts will be on site to demonstrate the hardware, software, and media that produced the historical and tattoo themed graphics as well as discuss how similar applications offer the potential for greater profits for print service providers. The company leverages 150 years of imaging experience to drive the cost out of print production for its customers while maintaining the highest print quality shown at SGIA.
Agfa Graphics’ mission remains the same today: to provide the highest quality imagery with the most advanced printing technology that delivers the greatest profit potential for its customers.
“Throughout our history, we adapted to changing markets, technologies and economic environments and re-invented ourselves many times to remain competitive and support our leadership position. We relate well to organizations looking to reach the next level. Our past uniquely positions us to help those looking to explore new markets with advanced technologies and create a new future,” stated Gunther Mertens, President of Agfa Graphics North America.
