New UK Hybrid Print Business Chooses EFI GamSys MIS Software to Streamline Administrative and Management Processes

Friday 16. October 2015 - EFI (Nasdaq:EFII) has announced that Chandler's Ford, UK-based White Star Printing has opted to invest in an EFI GamSys MIS/ERP solution to automate its hybrid production and administration processes. The deal was announced this week at The Print Show in Birmingham. White Star Printing was founded in a bid to introduce the latest Komori print technology to the south coast and is augmenting its high-quality analogue services with a digital print offering powered by two Konica Minolta digital engines.

With growth in both analogue and digital print services assured, White Star Printing recognised at the outset that efficient order processing, CRM and production management were all key elements to streamlined operation and efficiency. As a result, White Star Printing chose EFI GamSys for its modularity and ability to expand in-line with predicted business expansion.

“This investment in EFI GamSys was a logical decision for the company during its first few months, and enables the business to adopt the right levels of MIS, ERP and process management as soon as possible,” stated Max Middleton, managing director of White Star Printing. “Although we have long-term experience of working with management software, we fully appreciate the benefits of working with a modular solution designed for a hybrid workflow that can grow with our company and be augmented at any time.”

White Star Printing’s first press investment was a Komori LS 429 H-UV for high quality work up to B2 size, followed by the purchase of two Konica Minolta digital systems both designed to handle a mix of SRA3 applications, with complementary finishing provided by Horizon equipment. The addition of EFI GamSys simplifies all management processes in a hybrid environment, and provides the flexibility and ability to maximise production management by handling administrative tasks such as include purchasing and inventory, shop floor data collection and CRM.

The system will handle job data generated for the company’s Komori B2 offset press. Plus, EFI GamSys integrates seamlessly with the EFI Fiery digital front ends used to drive White Star Printing’s new Konica Minolta SRA3 digital devices. This results in a streamlined production environment in a market that relies increasingly in online ordering. With GamSys software, White Star’s printing team will gain full visibility to the production floor with advanced order and production management. This enables full accountability, better cost control and overall business efficiency.

“White Star Printing is the ideal match for EFI GamSys, which provides the ability to enable companies to operate intelligently and to optimise processes, delivering highly efficient production and administration,” commented Steffen Haaga, regional sales director, EFI Productivity Software. “Print companies of all sizes, both new and established, are turning increasingly to automation for data entry and order management, and GamSys’s modularity is an ideal solution as it is designed to complement business growth and encourage diversity in print and related services.”

White Star Printing handles a variety of sheet-fed orders using both its offset litho and digital capabilities using its Komori and Konica Minolta platforms. Work includes promotional brochures, catalogues, folders and other standard print items, plus short-runs that include variable data and versioning.
