Normanton NCR specialist updates its cutting technology

Monday 24. November 2014 - Normanton Advertiser, a commercial and trade printer which also produces a weekly publication, has returned to Heidelberg for another Polar guillotine.

A Polar 56 ECO replaces a 1998 Polar 55EM. Electronics elements are the biggest change with 198 programmes available on the new model compare to 99 on the old. A 5.5inch monochrome display screen and LED lights which mark the cutting line are designed to help the operator and the quick and easy knife change help to reduce maintenance time.
The new guillotine will be delivered later this month and the operators will receive training to maximise the potential provided by the new features. It will operate a flexible day shift.
“We did check out other suppliers but the Polar build quality is right. We want a machine that will last ten or 15 years without going out of square because of wear and tear,” says Andrew Warrender, print manager at the Normanton company.
“It will be used for a wide range of commercial work, primarily our NCR and Pantone spot colour trade work and digital printed finishing. We also supply a number of multinational companies with stationery and print for their logistics departments where quality and speed are paramount.”
