Heidelberg UK takes on sales of Gallus folding carton equipment
Wednesday 22. January 2014 - Heidelberg UK is to sell Gallus folding carton machines in the UK market with immediate effect. Gallus will continue to serve the labels market directly.
The decision to use Heidelberg UK as the distributor of its folding carton machines follows the retirement of Jim Dunlop of CPL Solutions. It will allow Gallus to use the expertise of Heidelberg in this area with its established platform in folding cartons and die cutting equipment.
“This is an exciting development for Heidelberg and shows our continued commitment to the UK and Irish packaging industry. Gallus has a known pedigree for producing high quality and technically excellent machinery. They have an established and proven installation base in this market. We look forward to working closely with them and supporting their existing customer base,” says Paul Thompson, product manager for Heidelberg’s folding carton portfolio.
Paul Thompson will spear-head this new development supported by the Heidelberg sales and service teams throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland. He sees the portfolio as an excellent fit with the Diana folder gluer and Dymatrix and Varimatrix die-cutters in the Heidelberg range.
Gallus, a company which is 30% owned by Heidelberg, offers a range of folding carton products, roll fed flexographic technology in both UV and water-based formats with in line finishing, including die-cutting and value added options for high class output.
The Gallus ICS 670 and smaller format CCS 510 are machines that print (flexo, gravure and/or screen), finish (hot or cold foil stamping, varnishing and/or laminating, reverse printing) and process from the reel to an individual carton blank in one pass. Modularity and the easy switch between printing processes are key selling points. Gallus also produces larger format machines under the product name INTRO with a focus on high volume production and liquid packaging.
The Gallus equipment produces a very wide range of work from fast food packaging to high impact foiled cigarette shells. Pharma, health and beauty care as well as confectionary applications will be served along with lottery ticket and liquid packaging printing.
