Labelexpo expands Latin American event portfolio

Monday 05. August 2013 - Labelexpo Global Series has announced a new destination as part of its schedule of events in Latin America. Label Summit Latin America 2014 will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Medellín, Colombia between 29 and 30 April.

Joining Labelexpo’s established Summits in Brazil and Mexico, the two day event will feature the same format with conference program, table-top exhibition and networking functions. Held annually, the Summits alternate between each country with it returning to Mexico in 2015 and 2017 and Brazil in 2016. Aimed at label and package printers and converters, brand owners, designers and industry suppliers, the event is expected to attract leading international and domestic exhibitors.
Medellín is enjoying a high profile at the moment, and was voted ‘Innovative City of the Year 2013’ by Citi Bank and the Wall Street Journal. It beat fellow finalists Tel-Aviv and New York City. Colombia is one of the region’s fastest growing markets thanks to financial and political stability and increasing personal wealth with the population’s growing demand for luxury and consumer brands. The economy has seen annual growth of between four to six percent in recent times and is catching up on Argentina as South America’s second largest.
Tasha Ventimiglia, event director for Label Summit Latin America comments: “We are extremely excited to be extending the Summit into Colombia. Material supplier Arclad estimates the annual Colombian label market consumption to be around 90 million sqm a year and with a population of approximately 47 million, that puts the country’s annual per capita label consumption at 1.91 sqm, a figure not far from the region’s more developed markets such as Brazil. As one of the continent’s fastest growing economies, it will give Colombian printers a valuable opportunity to learn about the wider Latin American market and global industry trends, while discussing the future of label and package printing in Colombia with industry peers.”
