MaineToday Media Implements ProImage NewsWay Workflow Automation and OnColor ECO Ink Optimization

Friday 19. July 2013 - New ProImage Limited has today announced that MaineToday Media Inc., publisher of Portland Press Herald, Maine Sunday Telegram, Kennebec Journal, Morning Sentinel, and The Coastal Journal has implemented its browser-based workflow and ink optimization software.

Before NewsWay we had a primitive workflow; we reviewed other systems but liked the NewsWay interface and features the best. ProImage also provided us with the best combination of price and functionality. We can now load balance throughput to our two CTP machines and have much better control of our production workflow.”
MaineToday Media uses flexo printing presses. To maximize their productivity the NewsWay software provides support for multiple workflows and will automatically create edition plans and then track production in progress. The software enables priority scheduling, hard proofing, softViewing and annotation. It also provides automated event notification, page pairing, deadline monitoring, plate text and furniture burning and plate room management
The ProImage OnColor ECO module automatically analyzes PDF files and intelligently applies Gray Component Replacement (GCR). This replaces some of the more expensive cyan, magenta and yellow ink components with black producing a sharper, cleaner image. It saves color ink usage and therefore cost, and reduces rub-off. Importantly it also reduces the newspaper’s carbon footprint.
