Valpak And Savings.com Team Up To Jumpstart Summer Savings
Thursday 23. May 2013 - HelpMeSave Campaign Aims to Boost Americans' Savings Potential for Short and Long Term
With summer on the horizon, Valpak and Savings.com – leaders in print, digital and mobile couponing – are joining forces to help Americans trim their budgets during a season that typically encourages splurging, not saving. Through a first-of-its-kind #HelpMeSave campaign, the two Cox Target Media brands will launch a series of consumer savings makeovers led by savings experts nationwide, and they will also share top deals via social media to encourage smarter spending on family getaways, outdoor activities, seasonal accessories and more.
The joint effort to help Americans refocus their finances during an otherwise carefree time of year comes after spending last summer was projected to total more than $16 billion.* To help curb expenses, seven qualified savings experts – who double as Savings.com DealPros – will identify everyday consumers in need of savings advice and give them a savings makeover to help fix common spending mistakes. The makeovers will focus on helping consumers reach their personal savings goals through smart couponing. Strategies will be tied to key spending areas such as grocery shopping, dining, summer travel, home improvements and outdoor entertaining.
“For many, summer is a time of added expenses, making it especially important to watch spending and implement smarter shopping strategies,” says Michael Vivio, President, Cox Target Media. “Through the #HelpMeSave campaign, Valpak and Savings.com aim to show consumers that there are ways to fully enjoy this time of year without exceeding their budget or putting their savings goals on hold.”
To remind Americans to pause and look for a savings opportunity before spending, Valpak and Savings.com are also inviting consumers to tweet @ValpakCoupons or @Savings with #HelpMeSave and a short description of their purchase intent. One of the two brands will respond with a relevant coupon, where applicable, to help kick-start the recipient’s savings efforts.
“Consumers are increasingly looking for new ways to put away extra money, but they are often unsure how to get started,” says Jennie Sanford, a Savings.com DealPro and BargainBlessings.com blogger, who will lead a savings makeover in Denver, CO. “Through this campaign, we’re hoping to teach everyday shoppers a few simple strategies, including couponing, that will allow them to save thousands of dollars annually.”
