JAYNE JAMISON PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLISHING DIRECTOR OF SEVENTEEN AND REDBOOK
Thursday 16. May 2013 - Hearst Magazines announced today that Jayne Jamison has been appointed to the new position of vice president and publishing director of Seventeen and Redbook magazines, overseeing advertising and marketing initiatives, and developing strategies to drive revenue through print, online and strategic partnerships.
The announcement was made by Michael A. Clinton, president, marketing and publishing director, Hearst Magazines.
Jamison, formerly vice president, publisher and chief revenue officer of Seventeen since 2003, will be taking over the publishing duties at Redbook from Mary Morgan, vice president, publisher and chief revenue officer, who is relocating to Cape Cod, Mass. Jamison was vice president and publisher of Redbook from 1997 to 2003, before joining Seventeen. She assumes her new role immediately and will continue to report to Clinton.
Jamison’s appointment follows the successful creation of the Hearst Design Group, overseen by Senior Vice President and Publishing Director Kate Kelly Smith, and the Women’s Lifestyle Group, overseen by Senior Vice President and Publishing Director Patricia Haegele, and reinforces Hearst’s group publishing model strategy and structure.
“Seventeen is the number one teen magazine in the market and Jayne has taken it to new heights, achieving tremendous advertising growth, up more than 11 percent in the first half of 2013,” Clinton said. “Her relationships and experience in fashion and beauty are a great asset as she adds the new, style-focused Redbook to her responsibilities.”
“I could not be happier to unite my passion for both Seventeen and Redbook,” Jamison said. “Both are iconic brands that provide their massive reader bases with aspiration and accessibility. Equally important, both brands engage consumers on every platform and I look forward to leveraging that for our advertising partners.”
With Redbook Editor-in-Chief Jill Herzig, Morgan recently steered the brand through a top-to-bottom re-think, shifting focus to attainable fashion, beauty and décor for stylish, savvy women. Inspired by today’s retail revolution and mobile culture, Morgan brought social sharing and e-commerce activation to every page of the magazine.
“Mary has seen Redbook through an exciting transformation,” Clinton said. “She is a true women’s magazine professional, in every sense of the word, and we thank her and wish her the best as she begins a new adventure.”
Jamison has conceived and implemented Seventeen’s successful integrated programs, including the brand’s annual Pretty Amazing real-girl model search. She created an in-house marketing agency that provides research, creative, event and promotional and multiplatform programs for marketing partners, and has incorporated mobile technology into Seventeen’s pages. Earlier in her career, Jamison was group publisher of the Parenthood Group at Gruner & Jahr and served as publisher of American Health.
