Mac Tully Named President & CEO of the Denver Post
Tuesday 14. May 2013 - Digital First Media today announced the appointment of Mac Tully as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Denver Post.
Mr. Tully has also been named an Executive Vice President of Digital First Media responsible for operations in Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Since 2008, Mr. Tully has served as President and Publisher of the San Jose Mercury News and Group Vice President for Bay Area News Group which includes The Mercury News, The Oakland Tribune, San Mateo County Times, Contra Costa Times, East County Times, San Ramon Valley Times, The Daily News, Pacifica Tribune, Marin Independent Journal, Santa Cruz Sentinel, The Argus, The Daily Review, the West County Times, and the Tri-Valley Times.

He is the right choice to assume the leadership role at the Denver Post and to continue the digital transformation that is underway in Denver and the operations throughout Colorado, Texas and in New Mexico,” said Jeff Bairstow, President of Digital First Media.

Mr. Tully will also oversee the Company’s other Colorado operations including: the Daily Camera in Boulder; the Journal-Advocate in Sterling; The Fort Morgan Times in Fort Morgan; the Longmont Times-Call in Longmont; the Loveland Reporter-Herald in Loveland; the Canon City Record in Canon City; The Colorado Daily and multiple weekly publications. He will also oversee the El Paso Times in Texas as well as the Company’s New Mexico operations including: the Alamogordo Daily News in Alamogordo; the Carlsbad Current-Argus in Carlsbad; The Deming Headlight in Deming; The Daily Times in Farmington; and the Las Cruces Sun-News in Las Cruces.
Prior to joining the Bay Area News Group, Mr. Tully served as President and Publisher of the Kansas City Star and before that he was Vice President of Operations/Newspaper Division for 16 publications for Knight Ridder.
Earlier in his career Mr. Tully served as President and Publisher of the Bradenton Herald; Senior Vice President of Advertising for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram; and Publisher of the Arlington Star-Telegram. Mr. Tully worked at The Kansas City Star from 1978-1987.
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Mr. Tully holds a B.A. in Business Administration. He also attended the Stanford Executive Program.
Mr. Tully is married to Rebecca Tully and they will be relocating to the Denver area.
Mr. Tully succeeds Ed Moss who left the Post in April. The Post’s Chief Financial Officer Michael Henry has been serving as interim president while the Company conducted its search.
