Chicago Sun-Times Remains #1 Chicago Daily
Tuesday 07. May 2013 - Sun-Times Continues Growth Trend for Third Consecutive Reporting Period
Today, the Alliance for Audited Media released circulation performance figures for the newspaper industry, including the Chicago Sun-Times, for the six-month reporting period ending March 31, 2013. Sun-Times Media announced that circulation is up for the Chicago Sun-Times and its regional branded publications, maintaining its position as #1 Chicago daily newspaper and #8 national daily newspaper. This is the third semi-annual report since Sun-Times Media was acquired by investment group, Wrapports, LLC.
For the six-month reporting period, Sun-Times Media reported total average Monday-Friday circulation of 470,548, representing +11.56 % year-over-year growth. Chicago Sun-Times’ growth this reporting period can be attributed to the success of core digital initiative including the Breaking News app for commuters, a proactive digital sign-up program, and complimentary print-products in key suburban markets. This reporting period also includes the first full count for the Chicago Reader.
“We are pleased with the consistent growth of our weekday circulation as the daily audiences have increased their engagement with our portfolio of products,” said Tim Knight, CEO of Wrapports LLC. “We continue to focus our efforts on providing our audiences with the best local news and content in their communities and providing our advertising partners with market leading solutions.”
The Sun-Times also reported Saturday circulation of 268,412, and 406,093 on Sunday. These numbers include the flagship Chicago Sun-Times newspaper together with its daily and weekly suburban titles across the Chicago region. On a stand-alone basis, Chicago Sun-Times reported a Monday-Friday total circulation of 262,461, Saturday circulation of 236,762, Sunday circulation of 255,302.
