ABB and manroland cooperation for retrofit for News Ltd., Brisbane

Wednesday 03. April 2013 - ABB, one of the leading suppliers of automation solutions for the newspaper industry, has announced a further success in conjunction with its cooperation with manroland web systems for press retrofits.

This latest press retrofit project is for the four manroland NEWSMAN presses at the Brisbane printing site of News Ltd., which is part of the News Corporation, one of the leading Australian newspaper publishers with over 100 titles including the national daily, The Australian.
Working under manroland web systems, who is the main contractor for this project, ABB will supply new main drives for the 20 printing units and four folders and will also replace the power distribution for all four presses.
Boris Falk, worldwide Head of Sales within ABB Printing, explains “the order is a further example of the fruits of our cooperation with manroland web systems for retrofit projects. Solutions from both manroland and ABB can be combined to find the best constellation to meet the end customer’s needs.”
The commissioning of the systems for the first press starts in May of this year.
