New Canon imageCLASS Color Laser Multifunction Printers Offer Wireless Connectivity and Mobile Printing

Thursday 14. March 2013 - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today introduced two new additions to its imageCLASS line - the Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw and MF8580Cdw laser multifunction printers (MFPs).

The new color machines expand on the success of their popular predecessors with higher print resolutions, user-friendly technology and mobile printing capabilities to help meet the needs of small businesses, workgroups, home offices and consumers.
Developed to help increase productivity, the MF8280Cw and the MF8580Cdw allow end users to print from virtually anywhere in their home or office1. Both machines support the current 802.11 b/g/n wireless protocol, allowing for a cable-free, hassle-free solution for printing documents. In addition to wireless capabilities, the new printers allow individuals to scan to or print files directly from a USB. They are also compatible with Google Cloud PrintTM 4 and the Canon Mobile Printing app2 for iOS, providing users the convenience of printing a variety of file types directly from their smartphones and tablets.
In addition to a new intuitive seven-line color LCD display, users can easily access the scan and eco-copy functions right from the control panel with the simple solution keys. The MF8280Cw and MF8580Cdw are equipped with password-protected Department ID Management, which allows device usage to be monitored and controlled to help reduce costs. Energy consumption may also be reduced with Canon’s efficient Energy Saver Mode, which uses as little as 2 watts of energy.

Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw Laser Multifunction Printer
Delivering on Canon’s standards for high-quality output, the Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw MFP provides professional color results for important documents ranging from office presentations to school reports, at speeds of up to 14-pages-per-minute (ppm)3 in both color and black and white. Building on the success of its predecessor, the MF8280Cw improves quality by utilizing advanced imaging technologies such as Auto Graduation Adjustment and Pure Black technology to help ensure accurate and consistent image quality. For easy paper handling, the Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw multifunction printer features a 150-sheet cassette, single-sheet multi-purpose tray, plus a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF). For a lower cost per page, the MF8280Cw has a high yield black replacement cartridge available.
The Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw MFP is expected to be available starting in mid-April through retailers, resellers and Canon Direct at a minimum advertised price (MAP) of $449.
Color imageCLASS MF8580Cdw Laser Multifunction Printer
Primarily targeting office users seeking an all-in-one printer that also delivers high-quality color output, Canon’s Color imageCLASS MF8580Cdw MFP outputs up to 21 ppm3 in both color and black and white, while allowing users the flexibility to print remotely. Helping to reduce paper consumption, this printer ships with standard duplex (two-sided) printing out of the box; duplex copying, scanning and PC faxing are also included, as are user-friendly features such as a seven-line color LCD for easy navigation. For added convenience, a user can send scanned documents and forward received faxes to a recipient through e-mail or a file server directly from the printer. The MF8580Cdw is equipped with a 50-sheet duplex ADF, 250-sheet front-loading cassette, 50-sheet multipurpose tray, and an optional 250-sheet cassette for extended print capacity. To help protect confidential documents, the MF8580Cdw features Secure Print which requires users to enter a code to release their print documents. The MF8580Cdw also incorporates PCL language support and a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) compatible Address Book which helps facilitate quick and easy scanning and sending.
The Color imageCLASS MF8580Cdw is expected to be available starting in early April through retailers, resellers and Canon Direct at a minimum advertised price (MAP) of $599.
