Doveton Press adds a second Heidelberg Linoprint C 901
Tuesday 05. March 2013 - Their second Heidelberg Linoprint C 901 gives UK printer Doveton Press an unprecedented degree of flexibility in the production of print jobs
New press meets customers’ varying run lengths, cost and quality expectations
Company relies on the combination of digital and sheetfed offset printing
Doveton Press is adding a second Linoprint C 901 from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) this month. This means it will be running three offset litho presses – a Speedmaster SM 74-4+L, and two Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor, a five-colour and a four-colour plus coater – alongside two Linoprint C 901 digital presses.
Managing director Gavin Savage says: “Offset litho and digital each have a place in today’s market. We need both to meet the varying run lengths and cost and quality expectations of our customers. We diversified into digital last year and the quality and productivity of the Linoprint C 901 has impressed us. We can mop up personalisation work and handle very short runs now. Operating both litho and digital allows us to give individual customers the maximum choice and we help them to find the right technology to suit their budget and each product’s specific quality requirements. The Linoprint presses are definitely additional machines and not replacements for the Anicolors which continue to impress us with their fast makeready, minimal waste and overall productivity. They also allow us to offer special colours, seals and metallics.”
Doveton Press is a 44 year old general commercial printing company based in Bristol. It offers graphic design and comprehensive finishing in addition to its printing services. Brothers Mark and Gavin Savage who now run the company their father set up are committed to providing customers with a personal and efficient service, providing a wide range of good quality practical and promotional printed products at competitive prices.
Doveton Press sticks to its environmental policy – the company was one of the first print shops to experiment with and use environmentally friendly and post consumer waste papers and has built up considerable experience in their use. All their waste paper is collected and recycled, with any redundant stock sent free to the ‘Scrap Store’ to be used in schools etc.
In November 2008 Doveton Press Ltd became successful in gaining membership of a certified FSC group chain of custody scheme as well as PEFC group chain of custody scheme.
Chris Matthews, digital product manager of Heidelberg UK, says: “It’s great to see Doveton Press return for a second press, testament to the effectiveness of this technology. We are having a strong run on digital press sales. Customers like the Linoprint label. They feel secure in buying from Heidelberg, knowing that they will benefit from a robust mid range machine that can produce quality work on a broad range of stocks. Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow solutions, colour knowledge and strong support credentials certainly help us to secure a high volume of digital printing business.”
It was last year that Heidelberg announced it was promoting the Linoprint C commercial brand and Linoprint L packaging range of digital presses alongside the proven Speedmaster offset lines.
