Cal Poly Instructor Gabrielle Castriotta to Present Oboe Master Class Jan. 31
Friday 11. January 2013 - Cal Poly oboe instructor Gabrielle Castriotta will present an oboe master class at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center (Building 45) on campus.
Several oboe students who participate in Cal Poly Music Department ensembles will perform and be critiqued. The public is welcome to attend.
Castriotta plays second oboe and English horn for the Tucson Symphony, in addition to working as a teaching artist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She has held the English horn positions of the Debut Orchestra and the American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles. In addition to studio recording, she has performed with the Pacific Symphony, the Jacaranda Music Festival, and the West Los Angeles Symphony.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in oboe performance from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in music from USC.
The free master class is sponsored by the Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts, Music Department, and Instructionally Related Activities program.
