Heidelberg to sell creasing device to fit its Polar guillotine range
Monday 19. November 2012 - Heidelberg UK is to sell the Guillo-Crease, a system developed by Craig Collins to allow printers and trade finishers to turn their Polar guillotine into an effective creasing device at low cost.
The system which includes a range of matrix to suit different board thicknesses and densities will be supplied in packs and will cost between £340 and £440, depending on the size of machine.
Mr Collins works in finishing and recognised the need for a simple and more cost-effective way of creasing, enabling a general commercial printer to easily output greetings cards, folders, binders, photobooks and similar. So, in his own time, he developed a system which enables a magnetised creasing block (the male section) to be attached to the clamp of the guillotine, pressing down into one of the colour coded matrix (the female section). The system allows users to apply as many creases as they require and can be operated manually using the foot pedal or automatically by selecting the clamp without the cutting function.
Paul Thompson, Heidelberg UK’s cutting specialist, says: “The quality of the crease that this simple device produces is impressive. It is an ideal enhancement to a Polar guillotine and at a very affordable price. It is the perfect solution for short run commercial work that requires creasing.”
The Guillo-Crease has a worldwide PCT (Patent Co-operation Treaty) License and a patent pending.
