Pixartprinting Invests in Four High-speed HP Indigo 7600 Digital Presses

HP today announced that Pixartprinting, an Italian web-to-print company, has invested in four high-speed HP Indigo 7600 Digital Presses to benefit from the press’s new features and provide customers with high-quality print and fast turnarounds.
Venice-based Pixartprinting will replace its six HP Indigo 7000s with the four new HP Indigo 7600 Digital Presses, while a further four HP Indigo 7500 Digital Presses will be upgraded with new features announced recently at drupa.
These innovations include automated detection of print defects in real time, special on-press effects for high-value applications, such as raised print and textured effects that simulate embossing, and light black ink for improved monochrome photo images.
The new model of the flagship HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press has a top speed of up to 160 pages per minute (ppm) in Enhanced Productivity Mode (EPM) – a 33 per cent increase over the previous top speed, making it the fastest two-page digital sheet-fed press available on the market. Pixartprinting has already integrated two of the four new presses into its print operations, with the other two set for installation by the end of October.
As a major European web-to-print company serving a market that requires print on demand and short delivery times, Pixartprinting has invested over almost 20 years in the latest HP digital printing systems to complement its conventional printing capability.
“Offset printing allows us to be highly competitive for certain jobs, but there are other jobs where digital printing is irreplaceable,” explained Matteo Rigamonti, president of Pixartprinting.
“As a result, we decided to once again select HP as our technology partner for small-format digital printing, signing an agreement that will serve as a “bridge” to an even more ambitious goal, namely the installation of the new HP Indigo 10000,”continued Rigamonti. “Although this system is not yet available, its credentials are extremely attractive, not least because of its very high production capacity, which is helped by its wider 75x53cm format.”
Alessandro Tenderini, general manager of Pixartprinting, added, “When printing multiple sheets for saddle-stitched or sewn catalogues and books in small and medium runs, digital technology continues to be competitive against offset printing.”
Among the attributes of the HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press that have particularly interested Tenderini is the Automatic Alert Agent, an automated early detection system that identifies inconsistencies and alerts the operator to any differences between the digital file and the printed sheet.
“The Automatic Alert Agent is undoubtedly one of the key differentiators of the HP Indigo 7600 press and is crucial in meeting our objective of ensuring the utmost quality control within the printing process,” he continued.
“By reducing waste and preventing imperfect sheets from reaching the end customer, the system optimises quality control and production times, which means we uphold our reputation for fast delivery of first-class print collateral.”
