BBC GOOD FOOD MAGAZINE CREATES SPECTACULAR CHRISTMAS ISSUE FRONT COVER

Friday 02. November 2012 - BBC Good Food magazine has created a spectacular seasonal cover for the forthcoming December 2012 Christmas issue, in conjunction with Polestar Chantry and Celloglas.

It is one of the most elaborate covers ever created by this title, using a number of decorative finishes to enhance a traditional gingerbread house.
The cover, together with the main magazine, was printed by Polestar Chantry, who arranged special finishing to be undertaken at Celloglas, the UK’s leading decorative print finisher.
The BBC Good Food team and their client BBC Worldwide, for whom Immediate Media publishes the magazine under contract, held a number of brainstorming sessions with Polestar and Celloglas to achieve this outstanding result. Ideas were refined and narrowed down to create the final piece.
The cover was printed web offset at Polestar Chantry with a special 5th colour pantone ink. Subsequent finishing included an overall gloss UV varnish, gold foil on both masthead and bottom of the cover together, with a screen applied cooper glitter varnish.
Koli Pickersgill, Group Production Manager at Immediate Media said, “We take great pride in our Christmas front covers on BBC Good Food and it was exciting to pass each stage first on press at Polestar Chantry, then at the Celloglas Leicester site, watching the cover impact build up as each finish was applied. The resulting front cover is first class and proved an innovative way of using the glitter varnish on the gingerbread house.”
