pressupdate: Integrated Inkjet for a strong impression
Thursday 01. November 2012 - manroland web systems to install three additional inkjet imprint systems at Axel Springer printing companies
manroland web systems will equip three additional COLORMAN presses with inkjet imprint systems at two Axel Springer AG printing houses. Alongside the Hamburg-Ahrensburg printing company, which is already a pilot user, the upgrade will be implemented as part of an expanded test in Berlin-Spandau before the end of the year.
Attractive for readers and advertising customers: newspapers with inkjet imprinting have enormous potential. With the “Integrated Inkjet” upgrade from manroland web systems, variable data such as lottery numbers or texts can be imprinted during coldset production. Axel Springer AG, an innovation driver in both printed and digital media, was convinced of the inkjet application’s potential long before its successful “Cash Million” lottery campaign. Thomas Drensek, plant manager in Ahrensburg, comments on the motivation behind this latest acquisition: “Our kickoff with the applications in “Welt Kompakt” and in the regional edition of “BILD” for Hamburg was a complete success. This is why we want to keep pursuing the topic of inkjet imprinting”.
Upgrade: Integrated Inkjet
manroland web systems will take on the “Integrated Inkjet” upgrade in Ahrensburg and Spandau, using the Kodak Prosper S30 imprint system. Dr. Gregor Enke, Head of Automation at manroland web systems states: “Our service comprises technical consulting, installation, and start-up. This allows us to deliver a complete system from a single source and ensure uniform printing press operation – without any added waste, changeover times, or resources.” Integrated Inkjet is implemented with two modules: automation and web lead. The automation module encompasses the control connection to the press, fully automatic imprint position control, as well as an overall operating concept with inkjet software. The web lead module enables the structural, mechanical, and technical adjustment of the web lead.
