Kodak to Showcase Full Range of Packaging Solutions at EMBALLAGE 2012

Monday 05. November 2012 - Delegates to discover how to increase brand awareness and reduce costs at every stage of the production process - from packaging design to manufacturing

Kodak will unveil its latest solutions for the packaging sector at EMBALLAGE 2012. Printers and print buyers will discover how they can use KODAK Products and Technology to preserve their brand capital, improve their in-store impact, and boost the efficiency of their print environments. The international event takes place at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre, from 19 to 22 November. Kodak can be found in Hall 6, at stand G129.
Kodak offers an extensive range of packaging technologies, and at EMBALLAGE the company will focus on flexography, offset plates, workflow systems, brand protection solutions and digital presses.
“Obviously, delegates will want to learn about technologies most relevant to their role and their business,” says Marie-Paule Flory, Marketing Communication Manager France. “For example, a production manager will be interested in efficiency gains, makeready time, print resolution, vignette smoothness and ink densities. While a brand manager is more concerned with in-store impact, creative opportunities and brand integrity. The Kodak portfolio responds to delegates’ wide-ranging needs.”
Meeting the needs of the flexographic market
The KODAK FLEXCEL Direct System offers a brand new approach to direct engraving of elastomers for flexographic printing. A unique technology combination drives productivity, low cost of ownership and impressive print quality with both continuous sleeves and flat plates options. The FLEXCEL Direct System is ideal for both printers and prepress service providers.
The KODAK FLEXCEL Direct System is already helping Kodak customers to streamline their production processes and improve print quality. Miller Graphics France, for example, began transferring the majority of its existing work to the system after installing it as its Limoges site – and soon won new contracts.
Kodak will also highlight at the show the award-winning KODAK FLEXCEL NX System, which has set the standard for high-resolution flexographic printing.
In addition to delivering quality equal to offset and rotogravure printing, KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates significantly improve press-room efficiency, thanks to their wide color gamut, efficient ink transfer, and better print stability than traditional digital flexographic plates.
Kodak delivers flexographic solutions designed to enable customers to print better and print smarter. KODAK Flexographic Solutions drive business growth through increased shelf impact and production efficiencies, opening new doors for flexographic printers and service providers.
The FLEXCEL NX System uses unique and award-winning high definition flexo plate technology to deliver extended tonal range, greater consistency and stability and a wider color gamut than ever possible before with flexo printing. The KODAK SPOTLESS Flexographic Solution combines software and a measurement device to capture achievable color gamut and tonal range capabilities, and generate accurate recipes for spot color replacement with four-color process printing.
Giving offset printers a boost
KODAK TRILLIAN SP Thermal Plates offer offset printers greater productivity, lower chemistry and improved on-press performance. The plates help packaging printers to reduce their lead times and increase run lengths, as there’s no need for baking. They also offer excellent resistance to UV inks and chemicals, and allow rapid processing.
Offset printers and brand owners striving for even greener features will be interested in the KODAK SONORA XP Process Free Plate, which has revolutionised process-free thermal plate technology.
The plate’s superior thermal imaging process, and complete elimination of processing, helps users to increase productivity, simplify operations, and reduce costs by cutting the number of steps required for producing plates.
The SONORA XP Plate delivers the same level of resolution, accuracy and repeatability associated with thermal process plates, while improving image consistency.
Cost-effective short-run printing
Packaging printers looking for a digital solution for custom short-run opportunities will be drawn to the KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Press. The KODAK NEXPRESS Platform offers exceptional quality, and prints on more than 700 standard offset substrates. It’s also equipped with Print Genius, a suite of tools that help users to increase productivity and get a tighter grip on quality control. Meanwhile the KODAK NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solution allows printers to print spot colours or gold, perform inline dimensional printing, add premium quality gloss, apply a watermark inline, or even add a varnish in a single pass. The Gold, Pearlescent and Neon Pink printing effects introduced this year at drupa 2012 are now also available using Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions on the KODAK NEXPRESS Press; other new enhancements to the NEXPRESS SX Platform include inline UV coating and long-sheet delivery trays. These developments enable service providers to expand applications and increase profit potential with digital printing.
For packaging printers that are looking for outstanding efficiency throughout the production process, there’s the KODAK PRINERGY POWERPACK Workflow System, which helps streamline operations by increasing automation, integration and process control. The efficient packaging layout automation option speeds up the productions process, and thanks to the KODAK PRINERGY Rules-Based Automation Software, errors are greatly reduced.
Visitors that want to supplement their portfolio with value-adding services should take a look at the KODAK TRACELESS AD System for Antidiversion. The expanding range of KODAK Technologies for brand and packaging protection applications allows brand owners to combat black-market forgeries, and take action against the grey market and the unauthorised re-sale and distribution of products.
Print experts on hand to advise delegates
There were will be plenty of Kodak print professionals on hand to offer their advice and help visitors address their specific challenges: “Our team of experts will show delegates how to create really dynamic packaging, increase their productivity, and implement better product security,” concludes Marie-Paule Flory.
