Iggesund adapts distribution to rapidly growing digital printing market
Wednesday 24. October 2012 - Iggesund Paperboard is stocking Invercote in standard sizes specially formatted for digital print. The result will be faster distribution to the digital market in Europe. It is the two-side coated Invercote Creato and the one-side coated Invercote G that will become available in the new sizes, in three different grammages.
“Our market surveys have found that a majority of digital printing professionals regard Invercote as a top-quality choice as soon as they require higher grammages and thereby also a thicker substrate,” comments Rickard Österlindh, who is responsible for developing Iggesund’s sales to the digital sector. “It’s therefore only logical that we should adapt our service to suit this rapidly growing market.”
The change means that Invercote Creato will be kept in stock in the grammages 220,260 and 300 g/m2and Invercote G in 220, 260 and 330 g/m2. For each type of board, the lowest grammage will be available in the 450 x 320 mm format, and the remaining two grammages in 460 x 320 mm.
Iggesund has experienced success with a similar arrangement in the United States and believes the corresponding market conditions now exist in Europe.
“The European market is developing at the same breakneck speed,” Österlindh says. “We’re seeing an increasing demand for various types of post-print finishing, and that’s where paperboard really excels as a material. This year’s Drupa demonstrated a breakthrough for a variety of new post-print finishing possibilities, which will increase even more interest in using paperboard for digital printing.”
Invercote Creato and Invercote G are certified for use in a range of digital presses and also recommended for machines that do not have certification programmes. Recently Iggesund has also been selected as an HP Indigo Preferred Media Partner for HP Indigo Digital presses, a standard created by HP to recognise its top-flight partners who are the best positioned to provide tailored substrate solutions for HP Indigo equipment.
“We feel proud and honoured by the recognition, which is a result of many years of co-operation to create a larger market for paperboard within the digital print market,” says Rickard Österlindh. “Our main product for digital printing, Invercote, has been behaving well in all sorts of digital print processes and has received a range of certifications but this is a significant step further.”
The Invercote products for digital printing are available from leading merchants and directly from Iggesund Paperboard. Sample packs for each product and grammage can also be ordered via the same channels
