ABS Print Finishers to update its cutting facilities

Monday 01. October 2012 - A latest version Polar 115N Plus with its 18.5 inch graphic user interface and JDF networking capability is being delivered to ABS Print Finishers next month.

The Peckham, London SE 15 company, has a policy of regularly replacing equipment and so its eight year old Polar is being superseded by the latest model. It is the company’s third cutting machine.
“The first Polar we had we kept for eight years and sold it for 50% of the original price. If only you could do that with cars,” says Andy Crane, managing director. “The Polar is the best machine on the market and this model was price competitive. We won’t network the guillotine ourselves but having the N networking version will safeguard the resale value. It’s future-proof.”
ABS Print Finishers offers a cut-fold-stitch service and handles some of the more challenging jobs that printers put out, such as loop stitching or short run work with multi coloured wires. Currently most of its business is from within a ten mile radius but it would handle work further afield on request.
Its portfolio of equipment includes a five year old Stitchmaster ST350 with six stations and cover feeder which Mr Crane describes as “amazing, brilliant – I can’t sing the praises of this machine enough”. He is equally confident of the robustness and quality of Polar technology.
Paul Thompson, marketing manager for Polar products at Heidelberg UK, says: “Printers and finishers are very impressed by the new N series and since its launch in May we have secured a number of orders as companies seek to ensure cutting, a critical element in producing finished printed work, is efficient enough to keep pace with modern printing presses. Time and again users comment on the reliability, robustness, safety, productivity and retained value of the Polar machines. The ease of use, including easy and efficient knife changing, keeps customers loyal to the brand.”
