Grand opening of the new arvato Service Center in Schortens
Tuesday 18. September 2012 - Meetings with officials, countless hours of planning, intensive negotiations with construction companies, technology providers and service providers, extensive construction activities, the stress of moving and much more. All that was forgotten this afternoon when arvato CEO Rolf Buch joined Sven Ambrosy, District Administrator of Friesland, and Schortens Mayor Gerhard Böhling to cut the symbolic ribbon at the entrance of the new arvato Service Center in Roffhausen and to officially dedicate the state-of-the-art office building to its purpose.
More than 100 guests who had been invited to participate in the grand opening by Managing Director Andreas Krohn were able to see for themselves that all that work had paid off.
In his opening remarks, arvato CEO Buch expressed thanks for the good support from officials and praised the outstanding work of all the companies who participated in the building’s construction. He offered special thanks to the 1,200 arvato employees in Roffhausen whose great dedication had spurred the project on. “The new service center offers you all a terrific work atmosphere,” Buch said. It is also a highly visible symbol of the bond between arvato and the Friesland region. “There is indeed a difference between signing a lease with a relatively short term and taking tens of millions in hand in order to construct our own building, custom-tailored to the special needs of telephone customer service,” CEO Rolf Buch said. “We feel at home here in the far North, we have a capable and dedicated staff and now we also have a state-of-the-art new office building.”
For 17 years now, international outsourcing service provider arvato has relied on the capabilities of its now 1,200 employees in the Friesland region. Up to now they have provided customer service for companies in various industries in the buildings of TCN.
“A good two years ago the arvato Executive Board in Gütersloh made an important strategic decision for the region and approved investment funds for the new construction of the service center,” Managing Director Andreas Krohn explained at the ceremony. It was a long and laborious path from this decision to the opening. During the 38-week construction period, 140 concrete piles were anchored in the ground, 126 exterior wall elements were positioned and more than 400 roof slabs were installed. In all, prefabricated structural components with a total weight of 7,000 tons have been installed. In addition, 55 kilometers of data cables and 50 kilometers of electric cables have been laid for the technical infrastructure.
