Mount Street Printers undertakes front to back investment

Tuesday 18. September 2012 - A Linoprint C751 digital press has arrived in Mayfair and joining it at the prestigious address is a Suprasetter A52 CtP device and a Polar 66, all supplied by Heidelberg. Mount Street Printers means business.

The company, which operates from owned premises in Mount Street, is a Royal Warrant holder. The company offers a die-stamping, thermography and litho service and is now adding digital to enable it to provide short run work cost-effectively. Being competitive remains a priority for the 31 year old business.
Peter Cain, managing director of Mount Street Printers, explains: “We will retain our GTO for runs of over 1,000 but for the very short run jobs the set up time is too slow. We needed a digital press. We looked quite widely but found many of the digital presses outputting colour little different to a photocopier. The Linoprint toner is much better, more like litho, and our operators have been blown away by the quality it is producing.”
The investment in CtP with the Suprasetter A 52 reflects the company’s belief that litho still has a place. Mr Cain believes the litho-digital split will be about 50-50 but that over time there could be a migration towards digital. This new device will supercede two machines, a metal and a polyester platemaker, although one might be retained as back up.
The company’s second Polar 66 will arrive in the new few weeks. The company has had 30 years experience with Polar guillotines and was confident in buying another. This guillotine will handle both litho and digital work.
All the equipment purchased will work flexible days, mainly Monday to Friday with overtime when demand requires it.
