Stora Enso Selects GT Nexus as Cloud-Based Global Logistics Control Platform

Thursday 06. September 2012 - Improved Customer Service, Operational Efficiency and Supply Chain Visibility Among Key Benefits for Integrated Forest Products Company

GT Nexus today announced that it had been selected by Stora Enso to provide a technology platform that will help optimize the company’s global ocean logistics operations. Delivered as a cloud technology service, GT Nexus will provide an integrated network that connects Stora Enso and its global logistics partners to a single source of operational data. A suite of business applications sit on top of the network and automate business processes around logistics planning, visibility, execution and performance measurement.
Based in Helsinki Finland, Stora Enso is an integrated forest products company, providing chemical pulp, paper and board, packaging, and sawn wood products to customers around the world. The company posted sales of EUR 11 Billion in 2011 and has over 30,000 employees worldwide.
“After an extensive selection process, we chose GT Nexus because they blended deep domain experience with the right technology model to help us achieve our goals,” said Berit Hagerstrand Avall, Vice President Sea Transportation at Stora Enso Logistics. “To be successful, we need to connect our partners and create a single view into our global logistics operations. GT Nexus comes with a pre-connected community of industry providers who are already active on the platform supporting other large shippers. That is a significant advantage.”
“Large multi-national corporations are coming together in the cloud and tackling common supply chain challenges,” said Greg Johnsen, Chief Marketing Officer at GT Nexus. “We welcome Stora Enso to the community of customers that are collaborating with each other and key partners on the GT Nexus platform.”
GT Nexus is providing Stora Enso with a multi-enterprise cloud technology platform that is designed specifically for global supply chain management. All stakeholders in the Stora Enso value chain operate off a ‘single version of truth’ information model, which drives transparency through a central, standardized source of events, shipments, transportation rates, documents, transactions and performance metrics. GT Nexus also provides the integration infrastructure, and data quality improvement tools ensure information is timely, complete and accurate.
A suite of business process automation capabilities will provide Stora Enso with advanced logistics control, which will drive better customer service and on-time delivery. Shipment planning, visibility and execution capabilities will also help reduce complexity and improve operational efficiency across the supply chain.
GT Nexus’s Supply Chain Intelligence applications will serve as a master business intelligence analysis and report dashboard, supporting things like allocation tracking and compliance, spend analysis, visibility into key performance metrics and service level agreements.
GT Nexus will also integrate to the Stora Enso ERP system, effectively extending the reach of that legacy software system across the entire supply chain and partner ecosystem.
“We ship over 200,000 containers each year,” added Berit Hagerstrand Avall. “The scope and complexity of our network demanded we take a highly innovative technology approach. The GT Nexus cloud platform proved to be the ideal solution to meet our requirements.”
