Frank Druck in the town of Preetz has installed the first Tempo E220 in Germany

Frank Druck in the town of Preetz is the first graphic arts business in Germany to invest in a Tempo E220. By replacing two existing systems, the new high-performance saddle stitcher from Muller Martini ensures high productivity, lower unit costs and improved energy efficiency.
Since the 1960s, Frank Druck has relied on saddle stitching systems from Muller Martini. It currently has a Tempo 22 in addition to two PrimaPlus and three Prima S machines in operation. The company, which specializes in consumer and customer magazines as well as catalogs with print runs ranging from 50,000 to 2 million copies, has had good experience with the high-performance line installed three years ago, another reason why it decided in favor of the Tempo E220.
The new saddle stitcher with a cover feeder, four flat pile feeders and a card gluer will be put into operation in mid-August, thereby replacing two Prima S machines. “In the future, we should have lower unit costs thanks to the high level of productivity,” says Henner Dose, Project Manager at Frank Druck. In addition, Frank Druck will also be able to significantly reduce its energy consumption per stitching – which, according to Henner Dose, corresponds to the company’s motto.
The new technology featured by the Tempo E220 ensures lower energy processing and distribution costs, as the compressed air supply can now be automatically deactivated as soon as the machine stops, and can be activated immediately when production starts up. In addition, the compressed air is distributed from a central location and is only deployed to feeders that are in use. Using two separate compressed air circuits for the gathering chain and feeders means that the blow air can be obtained on demand. The Tempo E220 also completely eliminates the need for low pressure air supply.
The fully automatic Rima palletizer will also be used more efficiently in the future. As the new Tempo E220 will be operated parallel to the existing Tempo 22, the palletizer can take products from both saddle stitchers and place them onto palettes.
