AGI Media Dublin enters the long perfector league
Friday 14. October 2011 - AGI Media in Dublin has taken delivery of a Heidelberg refurbished Speedmaster SM 102-10-P, a B1 long perfector .
“Having a ten-colour press means we can print both sides of the sheet in one pass, including specials or seals, which along with increased speeds will allow a greater output per hour. These factors, combined with the larger format, mean we benefit from much greater production efficiency,” says Adrian Matthews, group technical project manager.
Value for money dictated the secondhand route and AGI Media is delighted with the 2005 SM 102 that it has purchased. It was sourced from Heidelberg Belgium and refurbished using original Heidelberg parts prior to delivery.
“It looks brand new. Even the Heidelberg engineers were amazed by the condition of it,” says Mr Matthews. “The professionalism of the Heidelberg team was incredible , surpassing our expectations. They handled the original project management well and then oversaw the commissioning in an exemplary manner, showing absolute dedication and professionalism in order to meet the deadline for press installation prior to training and demonstration.”
The company already has an Image Control spectrophotometer which it will use across both the existing Speedmaster CD 102-6+L and SM 102-10-P. As part of the training Heidelberg is doing a refresher on colour control in readiness for the company to attain ISO 12647-2 next year. Its sister company AGI Media Slough is already certified.
The arrival of the new press has been welcomed by staff and customers alike. “The print industry is going through a restructuring and realignment process , so to see a press like this arriving is very encouraging for everyone as we are one of the few companies investing in new equipment,” says Mr Matthews. “It will make us more competitive and give us an increased capacity. We produce paper and packaging for the software sector in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and now with the increased B1 capacity we are better equipped to meet the needs of our customers.”
