New addition to the LITHOMAN family in Gütersloh

Thursday 28. April 2011 - Mohn Media orders another 80-page commercial printing system

It’s a LITHOMAN once again: Mohn media in Gütersloh, Germany, has ordered an 80-page commercial web printing system to be installed in summer 2011. It joins the LITHOMAN that has been in production since the middle of last year, which enabled Mohn to enter the inserts market.
Mohn media is looking to become a major player in the inserts business and is resolutely following this strategy by investing in another LITHOMAN. What is expected of the new press? Roland Witte, Head of Production and Technology at Mohn media: “The new LITHOMAN with numerous fold variants will increase our variety of products in the inserts business which has started off very successfully.” Mohn media relies on two presses of the same type. “The additional LITHOMAN makes our production more flexible and also serves as a backup.” This printer has a dedicated press for every web width, which sets it apart from competitors who frequently use partial-width webs. As a result, Mohn media can offer its customers reliability and efficient high performance, fundamental principles that apply to their own services as well as the production resources from their suppliers.
Partners celebrate a landmark
With a web width of 2,250 mm and a maximum output of 3.2 million four-color DIN A4 pages per hour, this Gütersloh printer banks on genuine high-volume technology from global market leader manroland. Over 50 installed LITHOMAN presses have a web width of more than two meters, and that’s around 90 percent of all worldwide installations in this class. Experience that Mohn media trusts with a landmark: the new press will be the 20th manroland commercial web printing system for Mohn media. Winfried Festbaum, Project Manager at manroland, has been looking after Mohn for 15 years: “We are proud of the longstanding relationship with Mohn media. Making a contribution to Mohn’s business success inspires us.” Declining run lengths, high quality expectations and short delivery times are much-discussed topics. Does an 80-page LITHOMAN provide the flexibility needed here? Stephan Uder, Regional Sales Manager Webfed Printing Systems at manroland: “As the market leader with numerous automation and quality control features, manroland has decisively shaped developments in high volume printing and made it easier to achieve. Production is absolutely flexible, the overall performance of the printing company increases, and both short and long run jobs can be produced efficiently.”
