cwTec presents sewing machine module for double-chamber tea bag at interpack 2011

Friday 22. April 2011 - A new technique developed by cwTec eliminates the need for metal staples in tea bags, simultaneously improving environmental friendliness and decreasing manufacturing costs.

A single-thread chain stitch seals the double-chamber bag and connects it to the label. The process is fully automated, using a machine that can fill and seal up to 220 bags a minute. The masterstroke of cwTec’s stitch assembly is that older tea packing machines can be retrofit with the new “staple-less” sealing technology, which means that the acquisition costs are limited to the sewing machine module and complicated changes to the machine park and production layout are unnecessary.
In 2010, the company was awarded the Weser-Ems VR small business award and the Lower Saxony Association of Trade Guilds’ Innovation Award for its stitch assembly for double-chamber tea bags.
