Vila Etiketten achieves sales increase with HP Indigo for the fourth consecutive year (1)

Tuesday 05. April 2011 - HP today announced that Dutch label specialist, Vila Etiketten, of Breda, Holland has reported an annual sales increase for the fourth consecutive year(1) (29.5 percent average increase over four years), with help of the HP Indigo technology.

With the purchase of the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press at IPEX 2010, the company has extended its existing HP digital print capabilities to cope with increased demand for its range of labels with variable content, such as barcodes for food items, pricing labels for retail items and healthcare products, discount labels for books and much more.
According to Vila Etiketten, the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press will enable the company to maintain its competitive edge.
“We think the HP Indigo WS6000 is HP’s most productive solution and installing it opened up new businesses opportunities and helped us to further grow our success in the labels market. The print quality often surpasses that of conventional printing and as such, we are able to offer the benefits of digital printing combined with the quality usually associated with offset,” said Robbert Vugts, managing director, Vila Etiketten.
The HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press enables printers to transfer jobs up to 4078 linear metres from conventional printing to digital—at a low-cost—while achieving superior quality, productivity and profitability. It can print at speeds up to 30m/min in four-colour mode, enabling Vila Etiketten to successfully meet their customers’ short deadlines.
“Many of our customers, who have worked with conventional printers in the past, say they notice the cost savings that come with choosing digital print. Customers no longer need to order 20,000 labels if they only require a few thousand, and they no longer need to keep excess stock. Instead, they can just re-order labels in short-runs at any time and be confident we will deliver a quick turnaround – a crucial requirement for some of our retail customers who need to order labels to promote the latest campaigns at short notice,” explained Robbert Vugts.
One of Vila Etiketten’s recent jobs that was fulfilled on the HP Indigo WS6000 and received particularly complimentary feedback was production of a label for a limited edition of the Dutch whisky, “Dutch Genever”, by Zuiddam Distillers. 2,000 labels – each of them with a unique number – were printed using colour and white ink on a silver adhesive material. The label also featured a metallic ink effect. “The customer was impressed with the superior quality of the finished product, despite also being a very cost-effective solution. They have already expressed an interest in using our WS6000 for future jobs.”
Established in 1992, Vila Etiketten has 27 employees and is one of Holland’s leading and fastest growing label producers, with a portfolio of over 2000 customers including blue-chip brands, retailers and other local printers.
As well as the HP Indigo WS6000, the company’s HP portfolio also includes an HP Indigo press ws4500, an HP Indigo press ws4050, and the HP SmartStream Labels and Packaging Print Server, powered by EskoArtwork – a highly efficient workflow and RIP station designed specifically for the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press.
Vila Etiketten also offers its own finishing services and, supported by its extensive HP Indigo printing capabilities, the company plans to explore international markets in the near future, especially Sweden and Denmark, where they see a lot of potential for their services.
