BASF is the winner of the renowned Supply Chain Management Award 2011, which is conferred by the international consulting firm PRTM Management Consultants, the trade journal LOGISTIK HEUTE, and the Supply Chain Management Institute of the EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht i. Gr. The selection committee gave the award in recognition of BASF’s recently completed “Accelerator” project, which has globally harmonized and fundamentally renewed key business processes and operational structures of the company.
“Our global application of the new processes will contribute toward securing long-term profitable growth for BASF,” said Dr. Hans-Ulrich Engel, member of BASFs Board of Executive Directors. ” The project had three goals: better service for our customers, smoother processes, and lower costs,” said Dr. Robert Blackburn, Senior Vice President Supply Chain & Process Innovation at BASF. “We have achieved these goals: Thanks to the strong team, Accelerator is a major success for BASF.”
Almost 800 BASF employees from 24 countries worked for the past three years to raise BASFs supply capacity and reliability to even higher levels. Differentiated service levels now make it possible to always give each customer the desired level of service. The SAP tool “Supplier Relationship Management” supports the ordering process, enabling employees to procure goods and services much more easily.
Manufacturing companies from every industry can apply for the Supply Chain Management Award. Commenting on the selection committees decision, committee member Harald Geimer, Director of PRTM Management Consultants, said: “The transformation achieved by BASF is an example of how supply chain management can be an important building block in implementing a companys strategy. Its a good example for other companies to follow.” The Supply Chain Management Award has been honoring outstanding achievements that significantly improve business competitiveness since 2006.
