SCREEN LAUNCHES FLAGSHIP 8-PAGE PLATESETTER SERIES

Today Screen announces the launch of the PlateRite HD 8900 series of eight-page thermal platesetters. The innovative Screen PlateRite HD 8900 delivers ultra-high throughput of more than 65 B1 plates per hour, but with reduced energy consumption to meet the key criteria of printing operations today.
Screen, a leading press and prepress equipment manufacturer, is targeting the needs of high-end print operations with the release of the PlateRite HD 8900 series. Print companies are increasingly faced with the need to respond to ever shorter deadlines whilst reducing costs and improving environmental standards. They also need to differentiate themselves by delivering high added-value services in order to remain competitive. In view of these industry trends, Screen has developed and added the flagship PlateRite HD 8900 series to its lineup of PlateRite thermal CtP systems, which are currently the world’s most popular platesetters with a leading market share.
The new Screen PlateRite HD 8900 series comprises the Z, S, and E models, each one designed to meet the needs of different production environments. The top-end, high-output PlateRite HD 8900Z can image over 65 plates an hour (1,030 x 800 mm plate sizes at a resolution of 2,400 dpi). The S and E models deliver 43 and 34 plates an hour respectively, with the additional capability to combine high-precision halftone dots with a 4,000 dpi output to produce photo-quality printing. 3D lenticular output mode is available on all models to support crisp 3D printing. Features such as these support high value-added printing to enhance differentiation in the marketplace.
Considerable flexibility is a strong feature of this new Screen PlateRite series. All models can handle a variety of plate sizes from 304 x 305 mm to 1,165 x 950 mm making it ideal to support a wide range of offset presses. In addition, a new autoloader design features improved operability and flexibility. The ability to load plates during continuous exposure, results in increased production volumes and the ability to keep pace with the needs of multiple jobs and high-speed presses.
From an environmental point of view, power consumption per plate during operation has been reduced by around nine percent and, when the new power-saving mode is used, standby power consumption is around 85 percent lower than existing Screen platesetters.
Together these savings greatly strengthen the environmental credentials of the PlateRite HD 8900 series.
The Screen PlateRite HD 8900 S and E models are available immediately and the Z model will be available later this year.
