Enhanced “netprint”, an iPhone/iPad Application, Allows Printing From Other Applications

Available today, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. offers Version 2.0 of netprint, an iPhone/iPad application, which allows users to print out photographs and documents stored in an iPhone/iPad from a multi-use copierNote 1 at any Seven-Eleven convenience stores across Japan.
Since its original launch in June 2010, the netprint has marked approximately 180,000 downloads, establishing a solid reputation as a convenient printing tool. Following the inclusion of the iPad compatibility in January this year, the Version 2.0 focuses on user friendliness, addressing diverse printing needs for both business and personal.
Main feature enhancements
1.Printing documents and photographs stored in different applications
In the previous version, users were limited to two ways of printing; 1. register a photograph saved in an iPhone or URL to the Net Print Center by launching the application, netprint, or 2. forward an email or attached file to the Net Print Center for printout registration.
In the latest update, users can launchNote 2 netprint simply by tapping the action button of other UTI-compatibleNote 3 applications including Evernote and GoodReader, to print out a document or imageNote 4 viewed or saved in the application. Smooth integration with other applications has broadened the scope of use.
2.Printing a DocuWorks document on the iPhone/iPad
By installing the DocuWorks Viewer Light for iPhone/iPadNote 5, users can print out a document created using the DocuWorks, Fuji Xerox’s document handling software, at any Seven-Eleven stores while they are outside of the office.
3.Improving the operability of photo printing
The Easy Photo Print menu has been added to the top page of netprint for easy photo printing: Select a photo in the Camera Roll or Photo Library, and tap the register button to get a confirmation number to print the photo.
4.Faster printing registration
Fuji Xerox has enhanced the application’s processing speed to shorten the waiting time for a document or image to be uploaded to the Net Print Center. The new version also allows background processing to enable users to use other applications while a file is being uploaded, so as to reduce their stress during this process.
Note 1 Fuji Xerox’s digital full-color multifunction device installed at Seven-Eleven stores across Japan. Provides a wide range of services, including color copying, faxing, digital photo printing, ticket purchasing, and Net Print Service.
Note 2 Enter a user ID and password in the login screen to launch the registration screen.
Note 3 UTI: Uniform Type Identifier. It refers to a character string that uniquely identifies a data type (type and format). Applications can specify a file extension including “.jpg” and “.pdf” for data identification to enable exchange of files between different applications.
Note 4 File formats that can be printed are PDF, DocuWorks, JPEG and PNG.
Note 5 DocuWorks is a document handling software that can centrally manage and utilize electronic documents as well as digitized paper documents on computers. A free application to view DocuWorks documents, DocuWorks Viewer Light for iPhone/iPad, is available for iPhone/iPad users.
