Prinect workflow and Suprasetter S105 installed at Herbert Walkers
Wednesday 09. February 2011 - Herbert Walkers has switched from Kodak to Heidelberg for its Computer to Plate system. The decision followed a thorough review of the market but the Suprasetter S105 with triple cassette loading won the day.
Managing director Stephen Whitley says: “We looked widely, reviewing products from Kodak, Fuji and Heidelberg. We found we could integrate more fully with our Solprint MIS system using Prinect Prepress Manager and Pressroom Manager and this swung our buying decision. The CtP device itself features cassette loading allowing us to switch between the three format plates we use without wheeling units in and out.”
Herbert Walkers produces a wide range of high quality colour print and packaging from its plant in Shipley, West Yorkshire. This means it uses a high volume of Saphira PN conventional litho plates, a Heidelberg own brand product. Previously the company had been supplied by Fuji.
But it is the integrated workflow that was key to Herbert Walkers’ decision and over the next two months it will fully integrate its MIS, prepress and press functions so that data input once at the estimate stage will be transferred on to production without any re-keying or message passing. Data input accurately at the initial stage of a job cannot then be compromised further down the line. The company is also considering integrating Prinect Scheduler in the near future.
Heidelberg continues to work with a number of MIS suppliers in the UK on integrated solutions that marry up business and production functionality, helping to speed up processes and efficiency and provide accurate data feedback that can be relied on for management decision-making.
Last year Herbert Walkers bought a Diana Pro and the year before that a Speedmaster XL 105-5+L so Heidelberg is now represented in all departments of the company.
