SGP Appoints Shannon Palmer as Executive Director
Tuesday 08. February 2011 - Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), an independent, non-profit organization for sustainability certification in the graphic communications industry, today announces the appointment of Shannon Palmer as Executive Director.
Palmer brings 16 years of professional experience from across the graphic communications industry. She has worked as a production manager and print buyer for both advertising agencies and internal marketing within retail companies. In addition, Palmer holds an MBA in Sustainability from Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI).
As the Executive Director for SGP, Palmer will be focused on moving SGP forward by executing an aggressive outreach program to the organization’s three target audiences: printing organizations, print broker/buying community, and Patrons. Palmer will raise awareness of SGP and gain support from Patrons that embrace sustainability. She will also streamline the application and auditing process, and implement an SGP procurement preference program with several major print buyers.
“I am thrilled to be bringing to SGP both my passion for sustainability and my print background. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the graphics community and to support its efforts to create and expand environmental and social justice programs,” says Palmer.
“On behalf of the SGP community, I am pleased to announce Shannon Palmer’s appointment,” comments Marci Kinter, Chairperson of SGP Partnership. “As a graduate of BGI, Shannon brings a wealth of knowledge of print buying and most importantly, of sustainability and its integration into business operations. We are excited about the opportunity to work side by side with Shannon as SGP continues to emerge as the certification body for the graphic communications network.”
Palmer began her career as a production manager for Herring/Newman. She served in this capacity and as a print buyer at major marketing and advertising agencies including Herring/Newman, DDB, and FCB Worldwide. Most recently, Palmer held the role as Senior Print Buyer at REI.
