Crawford Technologies archives print output in EMC Documentum

Wednesday 19. January 2011 - EMC Documentum High-Volume Server (HVS) support, new bursting model and support for additional file types are key highlights of PRO Archiver v2.6.

PRO Archiver is a follow-on product to EMC Documentum Archive Services for Reports (ASR)
rawford Technologies today announced the release of v2.6 of its PRO Archiver product for archiving print
output in EMC’s Documentum. PRO Archiver includes capabilities such as:

• An enterprise-class scalable processing server.
• Support for transforming, indexing and archiving of text, PDF, AFP, Metacode/DJDE, Postscript, and PCL files containing multiple documents.
• Archiving to EMC’s Documentum and EMC’s Documentum High-Volume Server (HVS).
• Utilizes open standard archival formats including PDF and PDF/A.
• Extendable plug-in based architecture.
CrawfordTech’s PRO Archiver version 2.6 is backwards compatible with EMC’s Documentum Archive Services for Reports (ASR) v2.5 product and provides
an upgrade path for current EMC ASR users. PRO Archiver makes an excellent solution for new and current Documentum users who want to manage reports
and transactional customer communication documents in Documentum.
To provide maximum performance for large enterprises, PRO Archiver v2.6 includes a unique ‘Store in Documentum Express’ plug-in. This plug-in
provides the ability to store content in the Documentum High Volume Server (HVS). HVS is an extension of Documentum with the ability to ingest
and process mass volumes of content at extremely high rates. HVS provides an improved ingestion API that includes blocking and scoping.
By leveraging this new API, the Documentum Express Plug-in is able to improve ingestion performance into Documentum
To provide additional flexibility and performance to handle all environments, PRO Archiver v2.6 provides users with a variety of bursting models,
including pre-burst, full-burst, no-burst, and section bursting. The pre-burst model allows the content to be burst at the time the print file is
converted into PDF or PDF/A providing the ultimate in bursting performance.
Another unique capability of PRO Archiver is its ability to archive indexed files of any type. This is a powerful new feature that can be used
to migrate from one repository to another. Once the content and the metadata have been extracted from the legacy repository, PRO Archiver v2.6
can accept the metadata in XML format, the content in its native format, and store and index that content into Documentum or Documentum HVS.
“PRO Archiver v2.6 is a major step forward, providing an enterprise-class solution for integration of reports and transactional customer
communications documents into the world’s favorite Enterprise Content Management system, EMC’s Documentum” said Ernie Crawford, President,
Crawford Technologies Inc. “Commensurate with this announcement, we are now in the process of migrating customers with the older EMC ASR
product to PRO Archiver so they can take advantage of the new capabilities and to guarantee a product roadmap for the future”, adds Crawford.
Crawford Technologies is continuing their offer to provide a free license for existing ASR customers.
Any company that purchased ASR from EMC prior to June 17, 2010 will be able to upgrade from ASR to PRO Archiver v2.6 if they sign
a maintenance agreement with CrawfordTech by June 30, 2011. After that date, ASR customers will need to purchase licenses for the
PRO Archiver product.
