Media General Installs Another ProImage NewsWay Workflow System

Wednesday 12. January 2011 - - delivers integration of many systems

New ProImage has today announced that it has implemented its browser-based NewsWay workflow management and integration solution at Media General’s Bristol Herald Courier, Bristol, VA property.
Matt Hadley, director of IT, publishing, at Media General said, “Installing NewsWay in Bristol was a logical follow-on to its installation in our Lynchburg press facility. Both Bristol and Lynchburg have the capacity to print three-up broadsheet plates and NewsWay’s custom page planning module was able to meet that requirement with aplomb.
“The ability to handle three-up page imposition with more than one section on the same plate was critical to the selection of NewsWay. We wanted the ability to approve pages and plates prior to imaging.”
At the Bristol Herald Courier, NewsWay delivers integration of many other systems including MediaSpan JazBox, OneVision Asura, EAE Ink Presetting, and Screen Thermal CTP equipment. It automatically load balances the RIPs and locks color separations to the same device, thus ensuring high quality.
The software also plans and tracks broadsheet as well as tabloid impositions, provides soft proofing, burns text and furniture on to plates and provides support for double trucks. It also supports outputting to two folders simultaneously.
Titles produced at the Bristol facility are the Clinch Valley News, Richlands News-Press, Smyth County News & Messenger, The Bland County Messenger, The Floyd Press and the Wytheville Enterprise. Matt Hadley adds, “We utilize NewsWay’s approval queue management to enable Bristol’s remote sites to approve their pages. Those sites have the opportunity to see low and/or high resolution proofs.”
