Schur goes digital

Wednesday 29. December 2010 - Schur who among other things is supplier of folding boxes and flexible packaging and who masters both offset printing, flexo printing and photogravure printing has extended the machine equipment and can now also print digitally.

Schur has realized that there is a need for being able to offer the customers smaller volumes – e.g. in connection with test runs.
One of the very big advantages in connection with digital printing are the reduced start-up costs. The printing machine prints in a quality which is comparable with offset printing – in up to 5 colours. As to size and grammage of the board there are naturally limitations compared to offset printing. The raw material is supplied from a roll and after print the board can be laminated or UV varnish can be applied. Finally blanks are cut out or the roll is cut into sheets.
We look very much forward to offering our customers this supplement to our production, Sales Director Kaj Ove Nielsen says – a production where we also in future can offer a high degree of value adding to the board – such as stamping, hot foil stamping, window patching and exciting constructions. Lately Schur has invested in a new palletising equipment with robots and self guided vehicles which help eliminating the bottle neck which typically arises in the palletising process.
No job is too small and no job is too big, Kaj Ove Nielsen emphasizes.
