The Boston Globe and Worcester Telegram & Gazette Adopt “Méthode” Multiple-Media Content Management System

The New England Media Group announced today that The Boston Globe and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette will adopt EidosMedia’s new-generation editorial platform Méthode to produce their print and online products, including Boston.com and the new site BostonGlobe.com which will be launched in the second half of 2011.
“The move to the Méthode platform is a key step in allowing the Globe to continue its mission of delivering high-quality journalism across multiple channels and platforms,” said Wade Sendall, vice president, information technology at The Boston Globe. “Its integrated workflows will bring a new level of productivity to our newsroom operations.”
The project agreement represents a significant milestone for The Boston Globe’s strategy of creating two digital brands starting in the second half of 2011. Under that strategy, Boston.com will remain free to users and remain the one-stop source for all things Boston, offering daily local news reports, sports, and weather, as well as comprehensive guides to local entertainment, travel and restaurants. BostonGlobe.com will be introduced as a new subscription site that contains all news and feature stories, commentary, analysis, photographs and graphics published in the daily and Sunday newspaper.
As part of its digital strategy, The Boston Globe will also develop a full range of Globe-branded digital products that will allow access to Globe content wherever, whenever and however readers wish. Complete integration of the content creation for print, online and other digital platforms will streamline workflows and reduce time-to-market for breaking news.
“The ability to deliver content through a multiple and growing number of output channels was a strategic requirement for the Globe and the New England Media Group,” said Steve Ball, marketing director for EidosMedia Inc. “Throughout our discussions it became very clear that only a single product, rather than an assembly of disparate solutions, would be able to do this. We are delighted to provide that technology.”
The Méthode platform will serve the Globe’s Boston newsrooms and bureaus, as well as the newsroom of The Worcester Telegram & Gazette and other NEMG titles.
