LOW CARBON PUNNET DELIGHTS MONAGHAN
Wednesday 22. December 2010 - Sharpak has teamed up with food brand Rankin (celebrity TV Chef, Ian Rankin) in a deal which will see Sharpak provide low carbon packaging for Rankin's mushroom and sauce range.
The food packaging firm, which is known for its low carbon innovations, is manufacturing a range of bespoke thermoformed trays for Garlic and Herb and Tomato and Herb mushroom sauce range.
The trays, which incorporate an internal cavity accommodating a peel back container for the sauces, were designed in conjunction with the UK’s foremost supermarket and Monaghan and are constructed from Sharpak’s popular c-LOW material. c-LOW has a carbon footprint 23% lower than any polymer-based packaging and contains UK sourced post – consumer waste and natural minerals.
Philomena Cassidy, Group Purchasing/Distribution Director at Monaghan Mushrooms says, “This tray has been designed to enable eating at home. We were keen to work with a company who could design packaging for specific needs.
“Sharpak also has a reputation for innovating in sustainable and low carbon products and we are very keen to offer our customers low-carbon, British made packaging to help them contribute to the green agenda.
Andrew Copson, Managing Director at Sharpak Yate added, “It is testament to our recent success that we have been selected to work alongside two household names to develop this specially designed mushroom packaging.
“We know that food needs to be presented attractively as well as practically and that sustainability is central, so we worked together with the team to produce something which we feel matches the brief perfectly”.
