Dalton Printers switch to Total Print Supplies (TPS)
Friday 17. December 2010 - Dalton & Co. (Printers) Ltd, based in Lancashire, is a business where customer service and top quality products are paramount. They specialise in producing quality affordable print to a wide customer base, both trade and retail. At Daltons, the aim is to surpass the expectations of their customers, making sure that what they do is simply the best that can be done.
They have recently changed their plate supplier to Total Print Supplies (TPS) via North West Paper (part of PaperCo).
Andrew Mattison, Director of Dalton Ltd explained their decision to switch. “We were having issues with our existing plates resulting in reduced bath life of our plate developer solution to around 2-3 weeks. This was adding considerable cost and time delays to keep changing our solutions which should have lasted several months. As our policy is to source environmentally friendly products, we also wanted a resolution that satisfied this criterion too. The challenge was to find the right supplier, someone who understood our business and our expectations and who could supply us with the technical expertise and provide a real solution to this difficulty.”
PaperCo have long been valued suppliers of printing substrates to the print market. Building on this reputation they have invested heavily in developing Total Print Supplies (TPS). TPS represents a complementary addition to traditional paper merchanting by offering an extensive range of pre-press products, blankets, press chemicals, inks, oil based varnishes, coatings and sundries.
Following successful technical investigations, TPS recommended their range of Agfa Amigo Plates, developed in a water based wash-out solution which is chemical free.
Andrew explained the many benefits of using the Agfa plates from TPS. “Our wash-out solutions now last 3-4 months plus the new Agfa plates are more environmentally friendly as chemical developer is no longer required (only water based wash-out solution). We are able to turn off the processor at nights and weekends, using much less power. With the old plates we had to leave it on 24/7 to maintain developer temperature. In general we have experienced better ink and water balance on press and achieved much longer run lengths from our plates.”
Andrew concludes “TPS was able to quickly supply a solution to our plate issues that not only resolved the problems of short developer life but in addition provided a variety of other benefits. TPS recognised the importance of helping us to make the right choice for our business and resolved our technical trouble above our expectations. Their team of expert technicians has been second to none and we would not hesitate to recommend them to other printers as a pre-press and press room supplier of choice.”
