The Softsoap product line from Colgate-Palmolive

Thursday 02. December 2010 - Challenge Accepted

A visually extremely appealing, enclosed hinge that has no equal on the market, as well as an especially smooth, fine surface are the special hallmarks of the new Softsoap line from Colgate-Palmolive.
Colgate-Palmolive wanted a 2-component hinged cap closure that adheres to the bottle dimensions so that the current pack size in the POS shelves could be retained, among other considerations. The challenge for WEENER lay primarily in uniting the product philosophy with a single mould: To manufacture a 2-component hinged cap closure with an active enclosed hinge without white stressing in a sizeable mould. WEENER mastered the task with bravura. To this end, the company employed the complex core pullback process, which among other things places special demands on the technical machinery. Moreover, the component is injected and closed already in the tool (in-mould closing). This prevents not only the unattractive white stressing, but also ensures minimal tolerances in regard to the opening force.
The enclosed hinge lends the favourable appearance, while the smooth surface keeps excess product from sticking, making them easy to wipe off.
During development of the Softsoap closure, WEENER once again had its eye on resource conservation, reducing the use of raw materials to a minimum.
