Bill Albrecht named President of the Media Network of Central Ohio and President and Publisher of The Advocate in Newark, Ohio
Friday 12. November 2010 - Gannett's (NYSE: GCI) U.S. Community Publishing division announced that Bill Albrecht has been named president of the Media Network of Central Ohio (MNCO) and president and publisher of The Advocate in Newark, Ohio. MNCO is a network of 10 newspaper/media operations in Central Ohio. Albrecht has been president and publisher of the St. Cloud (MN) Times since 2001.
“Through Bill’s leadership, the St. Cloud Times launched innovative products to increase readership and market share while also producing products and services that meet the needs of the community,” said Robert Dickey, president of U.S. Community Publishing. “He’ll bring those same leadership qualities and in-depth market understanding to our strong team in Ohio.”
He succeeds Linda Greiwe, who recently was named president and publisher of the Springfield (MO) News-Leader and holds the position of West Group vice president with oversight responsibility for U.S. Community Publishing markets in Mountain Home, AR; St. Cloud, MN; and Sioux Falls, SD.
Albrecht joined Gannett in 1998, serving as advertising director of Gannett’s Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, SD, until he was named president and publisher in St. Cloud. Prior to joining Gannett, he worked in sales and marketing for such media companies as Knight-Ridder, Inc., Woodward Communications and Lee Enterprises.
The St. Cloud Times was selected as a Gannett Gold Media newspaper in 2005 and Albrecht was honored with a Gannett President’s Ring that same year. Albrecht also has been active as a Minnesota Newspaper Association Board member and as a Junior Achievement Executive board member for the state organization. He is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications.
