Offset Printing
Emballage Packaging Exhibition in Paris, November 22-25, 2010
Thursday 04. November 2010 - Since the acquisition of the VSOP model series patents from Drent Goebel last year, Muller Martini has successfully integrated the new series into its existing product range. A VSOP printing unit produced by Muller Martini is set to be unveiled at the Emballage international packaging exhibition in Paris, France (hall 6, stand 6F 161).
At the end of 2009, Muller Martini introduced a new series for printing flexible packaging, cardboard, and labels in the form of the VSOP range. This range of printing presses from Muller Martini now covers the requirements of an even wider and more unique circle of customers – ranging from the more traditional form and mailing printers to label and packaging printers.
The VSOP printing presses from Muller Martini feature an efficient ink fountain with tempered vibrator rollers. Combination printing using flexo, rotogravure and screen printing methods is also possible, enhancing the strengths of offset printing with the other printing processes.
Two cartridges, known as sleeves, are the only parts that need to be exchanged in order to change the print size, and no tools are required. The machines are therefore infinitely variable to suit any image length. This means a complete job change is possible in just a few minutes, making VSOP machines ideal for small and medium-sized runs.
UV or electron beam drying is used to harden the printing ink, meaning color migration is almost completely eliminated. This also makes VSOP technology suitable for manufacturing high-quality foodstuff packaging.
Over 75 printing presses have been installed worldwide since VSOP was launched at Drupa 2004. Some 75% of the machines harden the printing ink using UV equipment; the remaining machines use electron-beam hardening.
