ASAP Digital Invests in HP Indigo press 5500 to meet increased demand

David Allsopp, director, ASAP Digital Ltd with the HP Indigo press 5500

Thursday 04. November 2010 - HP today announced that ASAP Digital Ltd of Sheffield, UK, has installed an HP Indigo press 5500 to extend its printing capabilities, enable it to operate a double shift and respond quicker to customer demands, enjoy minimum downtime and attract business with its new spot colour capability.

As an existing HP Indigo 3050 user, according to ASAP Digital, the HP Indigo press 5500’s high print quality coupled with low production costs, variable data printing capabilities and the ability to print seven colours including spot colours, were significant factors in the company’s press choice.

Using its new spot colour capability, ASAP Digital expects to attract more corporate clients from the commercial sector, that require the ability to match corporate identity colours and provide additional value to printed items.

“Digital printing is the future and in times of austerity and with growing environmental awareness has many benefits such as being able to order only what you need, when you need it, and therefore limiting waste,” said David Allsopp, director, ASAP Digital Ltd.

“As our name suggests, our company delivers innovative printed products on time, or even faster where possible – our Indigo presses help us to achieve this. We expect the new Indigo press 5500, especially with the white ink and the thick substrate kit options, will enable us to target more business in the future that we simply could not have serviced before,” said David Allsopp.

HP ElectroInk White allows HP Indigo press users to print full-colour images on transparent, coloured or other substrates commonly used in point-of-purchase (POP) signage, greetings cards, direct mail and other applications. The thick substrate kit enables printing on thicker/heavier substrates, such as POP advertisements and short run personalised printed carton board applications etc.

Both new features are enabling the company to service new markets and further differentiate from the competition.

To accommodate its new HP investment, ASAP Digital has expanded its facility by moving to a new 3800 square foot building. The privately owned company founded in July 2005, works for a host of design agencies and direct customers, providing applications including leaflets, letterheads, restaurant menus, brochures and product manuals.

Closing the loop in its service offering, ASAP digital also provides in-house finishing services including creasing, folding or laminating to increase production flexibility and better meet tight customer deadlines.
